ĺ─˙Vilaro brilliantly employs Ladino songs, performed live in his Ritualistic new ĺ─¨Deshar Alhatĺ─¨. He has set his piece to the gorgeous melodies and fierce percussion of Ladino songs, with the added treat that these songs are played live by singer-guitarist Stefani Valadez, Christo Pellani on percussion, & Nyofu Tyson on Turkish Saz.
Every section tautly responds to the sinuous vocals and complex percussion.ĺ─¨
ĺ─˙Deshar Alhatĺ─¨ is one of three new works featured in ĺ─˙Ciclosĺ─¨ to be presented at the Harris Theatre. LA songstress Stefani Valadez will be on hand to add her thrilling voice to the mix of live elements.ĺ─¨

ĺ─˙Two World premieres are part of ĺ─˙Ciclosĺ─¨ by Eduardo Vilaro. One is ĺ─˙Deshar Alhat, which explores the rich culture of Sephardic Jews. This work will feature live accompaniment by Stefani Valadez, a renowned master of Sephardic Music.ĺ─¨
ĺ─˙The palate of Deshar is indeed lush and sensuous and distinctly Latino, yet there is a melancholy to the passionate physicality of the choreography, heightened by raw, earthy vocal performances by Stefani Valadez.ĺ─¨
